  1. This wonderfully playful drawing reminds me of my son Teo. And the me that Teo reminds me to stay in touch with. Like the confident driver in this drawing, Teo drives his kangaroo across the lawn. He is always at the beginning of an adventure. The adventure of now. And now is where Teo is. How can he be anywhere else? And the kangaroo is happy, too, because he is the vehicle of Teo’s adventure. The kangaroo provides the vision for Teo’s movement towards. And it’s towards that Teo seeks, in a bright, colorful way, moment to moment. When he gets stuck—and he often does as a new seeker—he yells out this groan of frustration. And he throws his kangaroo down, as if the kangaroo ill somehow contain his frustration and revitalize Teo’s desire for mastery. And the kangaroo seems to magically do just this. And with a smile and love. Like Shl Silverstein’s `Giving Tree,’ Teo has a giving kangaroo. Always there. Always present. Ready to give and teach Teo the joy of seeking.

  2. I love the story about Teo and his kangaroo. I can just picture it. And if indeed a child and his toy kangaroo are the example, then we also get reminded that all seeking is silly but without seeking we may never arrive in the present moment :)

  3. helianthus is the genus name for one of our most popular and loved flowers, sunflower. Helianthus refers to the fact that the flower turns towards the light of the sun. This is the fundamental principle of biological evolution, the "turning towards." In the evolution of consciousness, turning towards refers to intention, desire, motivation, etc. It is the seeking that we all are. In the middle of it all is language, which provides the imaginal color that fills life with the pointers (turning towards) and conveyances that reminds us that we all share a common aim: to love.
